Public memorial services for the late former Vice President Walter Mondale will be held in September in Minnesota and Washington, D.C, the family announced Friday.

No details have been set. “Dates and other details will be shared in the coming months,” according to a family statement.

Mondale, a Minnesota native from humble roots who became the Democratic Party’s nominee for president in 1984, died Monday at the age of 93.

Friday’s family statement added: “The family is deeply appreciative of the messages of condolence received from around the world.”
