Warframe Kavat 2022 Guide - ProGameTalk

There are several companions that you can choose from to join you in battle and one of the types of companions is Kavats.

These feline buddies can be quite useful to use during missions and can be a nuisance to the foes that try to get in your way.

While favored by many of the Tenno, obtaining a Kavat requires a bit more effort to obtain, unlike the other companions in the game.Warframe Kavat

KavatsKVGD-2

Kavats are agile, feline creatures that naturally roam missions, living in the Derelict and surviving by hunting or scavenging among the Infested.

During Derelict missions, players may notice Kavats moving while cloaked, making them difficult to spot without a scanner or until they uncloaked for specific actions.

They can be seen wandering, hunting, or engaging Infested and other enemies, which also gives Tenno the opportunity to scan them for Genetic Codes.

Wild Kavats are aggressive when provoked, often attacking players or enemies, and typically appear in small packs of three or more in designated mission areas.

How To Get a Kavat?

Kavat Genetic Code

Kavat Genetic Code

Kavat Genetic Code is a resource in Warframe that contains the DNA needed to create a Kavat in your incubator.

To breed a Kavat, you must first collect Kavat Genetic Codes, as these are a required component of the incubation process.

A total of 10 Kavat Genetic Codes is needed to breed a single Kavat, making it essential to farm or obtain these before starting the process.

How To Get Kavat Genetic Code?Kavat Genetic Code can be purchased in the market

Kavat Genetic Code is a resource in the game that contains the genetic code or DNA used to create Kavats in an incubator.

To breed Kavats, you will need to have Kavat Genetic Code, which is required for the breeding process and ensures your incubator can produce a new Kavat.

You will need 10 Kavat Genetic Codes to breed a Kavat, which makes obtaining these a necessary step before you can start creating your companion.

Kavat Genetic Codes can be obtained by scanning Feral Kavats, which are often found waiting, roaming, or ambushing prey on Deimos during missions.

Vasca Kavats, on the other hand, are obtained differently: your Kavat must be bitten by a Vasca, which gives a chance to unlock their unique genetic traits for breeding.

Where To Get Kavat Genetic Code?

Feral Kavats can only be found in Orokin Derelict tilesets, originally part of the Derelict but now located on Deimos for scanning and Genetic Code farming.

These missions often have Feral Kavats spawned at the start, and you will need to search carefully as they roam cloaked or engage other enemies during missions.

The following are the missions where you may find Feral Kavats:

  • Horend (Capture)
  • Phlegyas (Exterminate)
  • Formido (Sabotage)
  • Dirus (Mobile Defense)
  • Hyf (Defense)
  • Magnacidium (Assassination)
  • Terrorem (Survival)
  • Exequias (Assassination)

Finding And Scanning Kavats

Preparation

KVGD-6

You will need to make sure that you have a scanner ready in your gear which you will need to find and scan the Kavats for their Kavat Genetic Code.

Using a synthesis scanner with widgets may prove useful since these may make the scanning process easier and more efficient in ways of scanning faster, having unlimited scans, and double scanning.

Without a scanner, you will not be able to obtain the Kavat Genetic Code as the Feral Kavats need to be scanned.

Choosing a Mission

Selecting the mission to get Feral Kavats

Knowing that Feral Kavats can only be found in Deimos, you will need to choose where you will search for them and what type of mission you prefer.

Choosing a mission that you can complete easily is vital so that you can easily extract from the mission afterward.

Some of the best missions for this would be Horend, Phlegyas, or Terrorem as these are easy to complete and give you time to roam.

Scanning Kavats

Scanning Kavats

Once the mission you have selected begins, you can either complete the objective first or begin searching for Feral Kavats.

Feral Kavats that are attacking enemies can easily be scanned but some will be cloaked and will only be visible through your scanner.

Scan the Feral Kavat as you would do with any other enemy and once complete, you may or may not obtain a Kavat Genetic Code.

Disabling Feral Kavats

Certain Warframe abilities make it easy for you to scan Feral Kavats by disabling them but some of these may require that you mod your Warframe to deal less damage with abilities.

  • Banshee – Silence
  • Equinox – Rest & Rage
  • Excalibur – Radial Javelin/ Radial Blind
  • Frost – Avalanche

Breeding KavatsKVGD-16

To begin breeding a Kavat head to the incubator located in your orbiter and interact with it to open the menu, where you can choose it as an option.

In the menu, select “Kavat Breeding” and this will bring you to the menu where you can choose to use a set of Kavat Genetic Codes that you have obtained.

Once you have selected “Kavat Breeding”, check if you have all the requirements to breed the Kavat and proceed. (This requires that you have a Kavat Incubator Segment installed)

KVGD-19

Once you have all the requirements and you are ready to breed a Kavat, select the “Begin Incubation” option at the bottom of the breeding guide.

From here you may choose if you wish to do a random incubation if it is your first time breeding a Kavat which will give you a random Kavat.

If you wish to create a specific Kavat you may choose to place Kavat imprints if you have purchased them from another player or borrowed from another player.

KVGD-21

Start the incubation process and wait for the Kavat to be finished, which can also be rushed if you want to skip the waiting time.

After the Kavat has been incubated, you may claim it and may now use it as a companion by equipping it through your Arsenal Menu.

Kavat Incubator Segment

You will have to have a Kavat Incubator Upgrade Segment before you can begin using Kavat Genetic Code for breeding Kavats.

You can get the Kavat Incubator Upgrade Segment Blueprint from the Clan Dojo Tenno Lab or obtain it as a drop when killing Hyekka Masters.

Crafting a Kavat Incubator Upgrade Segment requires that you are at least Mastery Rank 5 before you can craft it.

This can also be purchased from the Market aboard your Orbiter for 175 Platinum.

Types of Kavats

There are currently three types of Kavats that can be bred in Warframe: Smeeta, Adarza, and Vasca, each with unique abilities that benefit different mission strategies.

Having more than one type is useful depending on the mission, as each Kavat specializes in either support, offense, or crowd control for varied combat scenarios.

All Kavats can equip general mods, but some abilities are tied to type-specific mods, allowing access to their signature skills and enhancing their effectiveness in missions.

1) Smeeta Kavat

KVGD-22

The Smeeta Kavat is a support companion that helps the player during missions by granting temporary buffs, improving survivability, critical damage, and energy management for the owner.

Its abilities trigger under set conditions or at intervals, giving effects that only benefit the player, making fights easier and allowing more efficient ability and weapon use.

Smeeta Kavat has the following abilities:

Charm

Charm lets the Smeeta Kavat grant a random buff to its owner every 27 seconds at max rank, giving temporary boosts for combat or survivability during missions.

Buffs include Energy Refund, Reinforced Shields, Instant Reload, and Critical Chance Bonus, each lasting for a set time and helping the player perform better in fights.

This ability only affects the player, not allies, and is useful for surviving tough fights, reducing downtime, and making weapons and abilities more effective in combat.

Mischief

Mischief allows the Smeeta Kavat to create a cloaked decoy every 7 seconds at max rank, drawing enemy attention and keeping the Kavat and player safer during fights.

The decoy has half of the Kavat’s health, can deal damage, and remains active while the Kavat stays invisible, giving the player openings to reposition or attack freely.

This ability is great for controlling crowds and avoiding damage, giving the player space to focus on enemies, and works well with Charm for maximum support during missions.

2) Adarza Kavat

KVGD-25

The Adarza Kavat is an offensive companion that focuses on dealing damage and boosting critical chance for the player and allies during missions.

It is best suited for players who want a companion that directly enhances combat performance and provides team-wide damage support rather than personal buffs.

The Adarza Kavat has the following abilities:

Cat’s Eye

Cat’s Eye allows the Adarza Kavat to periodically grant a critical chance bonus to the player and allies within a radius, increasing damage output significantly.

This ability applies a flat 60% critical chance boost at max rank and works with any weapon, making it very effective for critical builds in missions.

The effect only triggers when enemies are nearby, ensuring the bonus is active during combat and providing reliable damage support to the team when it is needed most.

Reflect

Reflect gives the Adarza Kavat the ability to absorb incoming damage and return a portion back to the attacking enemy with amplified force.

At max rank, Reflect returns 60% of the damage dealt back to enemies, making it effective against groups of attackers while simultaneously protecting both the Kavat and player.

This ability is triggered when the Kavat takes damage, which allows it to retaliate while enhancing survivability and maintaining offensive pressure on enemies during missions.

3) Vasca Kavat

Warframe Vasca Kavat

The Vasca Kavat is a support-focused companion that provides healing to the player and nearby allies through its unique bite mechanic during combat.

Unlike other Kavats, the Vasca Kavat must actively bite enemies to trigger its healing effects, making timing and positioning crucial for maximizing its support potential.

Draining Bite

Draining Bite allows the Vasca Kavat to bite an enemy, dealing Slash damage while restoring a portion of its own health.

Each bite heals the Vasca Kavat based on the damage dealt, making it resilient in prolonged fights and able to continue attacking enemies around it.

This ability keeps the Kavat alive in high-level missions, letting it sustain itself while contributing damage to enemies without constant attention from the player.

Transfusion

Transfusion lets the Vasca Kavat sacrifice a portion of its health to instantly revive its player from bleedout during missions.

At max rank, Transfusion takes a set amount of the Kavat’s health to bring the player back into the fight, providing a strong safety net in critical situations.

This ability can trigger even if the Vasca Kavat is low on health, ensuring the player has a reliable emergency revive option whenever needed.

Kavat Mods

There are many mods that companions can equip, but some mods are exclusive to Kavats and cannot be used by other companion types in Warframe.

Both the Smeeta and Adarza Kavats can equip these unique mods in addition to the standard companion mods, allowing each type to specialise in their respective abilities.

You can experiment with different mods to create the Kavat build that best suits your playstyle, and you can swap mods at any time depending on the mission or situation.

Here are the specific mods usable by both of the Kavats:

1) Swipe

Swipe allows the Kavat to strike multiple enemies at once within a short range, dealing damage to all enemies in its path efficiently.

This mod is particularly useful in missions with groups of enemies, letting your Kavat contribute effectively to combat alongside its owner.

Swipe synergizes well with Pounce, as the area-of-effect damage helps maximize kills when both abilities are used together during engagements.

2) Pounce

Pounce allows the Kavat to leap at an enemy, dealing damage and stunning them, making it easier for the Tenno to follow up with attacks.

At max rank, Pounce deals 90% damage and stuns a target for 8 seconds, opening enemies up for finishers or additional crowd control.

When combined with Swipe, Pounce can hit multiple enemies at once, stunning and damaging them simultaneously, which greatly enhances the Kavat’s combat effectiveness in missions.

3) Sense Danger

Sense Danger allows the Kavat to detect nearby enemies, highlighting them and revealing their position on the mini-map to alert the Tenno of incoming threats.

At max rank, this ability reveals enemies within a 50-meter radius for 25 seconds, giving players a clear view of enemy positions and movements.

Using Sense Danger is useful for planning movement and positioning during missions, helping you avoid ambushes, locate hidden enemies, and react strategically to threats.

4) Sharpened Claws

Sharpened Claws allows the Kavat to deal a powerful attack that increases its damage by 300% and reduces the enemy’s armor by 120% at max rank.

This becomes useful against tougher enemies as the Kavat not only deals high damage but also lowers their defenses, making them easier for you to finish.

Equipping Sharpened Claws synergizes well with other offensive mods and abilities, helping your Kavat contribute significantly to both crowd control and single-target damage.

5) Territorial Aggression

Territorial Aggression allows the Kavat to mark an area as its own, pacifying any nearby wild creatures for 15 seconds within a 40-meter range at max rank.

This becomes useful in missions where wild creatures can interfere with objectives, giving you and your Kavat a moment to safely scan, collect, or fight without interruptions.

While not a core mod for combat, Territorial Aggression can be situationally powerful for managing crowds of wild enemies and controlling the environment during missions.

6) Tek Enhance

Tek Enhance increases the duration of Kavat abilities by 30% at max rank, allowing the effects of buffs or other active abilities to last longer during missions.

Its set bonus allows the Kavat to mark a 3-meter area every 60 seconds, causing enemies within the marked zone to take 50 damage.

This is useful because it not only provides the bonus damage periodically but also enhances the overall effectiveness of the Kavat’s abilities, making it more reliable in combat and support roles.

7) Tek Assault

Tek Assault allows the Kavat to survive after taking fatal damage, giving it a chance to recover instead of being downed immediately during missions.

At max rank, this has a 60% chance to trigger and also grants the Kavat immunity for 4 seconds, allowing both it and its owner to act safely.

This mod increases the Kavat’s survivability, letting it continue fighting when it would otherwise be taken out, and contributes to the Tek mod set bonus when equipped with other Tek mods.

VerdictKVGD-35

Each Kavat has unique abilities that can provide different advantages depending on mission type and player strategy.

They can support the Tenno in combat, enhance offensive capabilities, or provide utility depending on how their abilities and mods are used.

Overall, Kavats are versatile companions that can adapt to many situations, making them valuable allies for any Tenno in the field.
