Space Force is a satirical comedy series created by Greg Daniels and Steve Carell, which premiered on Netflix in May 2020. The show stars Steve Carell as General Mark R. Naird, a decorated pilot and four-star general who is tasked with creating a new branch of the military called Space Force, which is dedicated to defending the United States from threats in space.

John Malkovich co-stars as Dr. Adrian Mallory, a brilliant scientist who has been drafted to work with Naird on the Space Force project. Ben Schwartz plays F. Tony Scarapiducci, a media consultant who is brought on board to help with the public relations aspect of the project. Diana Silvers and Tawny Newsome also star as Erin Naird, Mark's daughter, and Captain Angela Ali, a Space Force pilot, respectively.

The show follows General Naird as he tries to navigate the complexities of creating a new military branch from scratch, dealing with bureaucratic red tape, technology glitches, and a lack of public support. Along the way, he also has to contend with a number of personal challenges, including his rocky relationship with his wife, Maggie (played by Lisa Kudrow), who is serving time in prison for a nebulous white-collar crime.

As one might expect from the minds behind The Office and Parks and Recreation, Space Force is a smart, irreverent take on the military and space exploration, full of quirky characters, absurd situations, and biting satire. The show pokes fun at everything from government bureaucracy to Silicon Valley tech bro culture, while also examining deeper issues related to patriotism, family, and the nature of human ambition.

One of the show's biggest strengths is its cast, with Steve Carell leading the charge as the always-stoic Naird, who is a seasoned military man struggling to adapt to the complex world of space exploration. John Malkovich's Dr. Mallory serves as a perfect foil to Naird, bringing both humor and depth to his character. Meanwhile, Ben Schwartz is delightful as the fast-talking Scarapiducci, injecting levity into even the most serious of situations.
