Watch The First Trailer For The Wilds Season 2

There's nothing better than finding something new on TV that you absolutely love, and The Wilds on Prime Video was exactly that. A bit like Pretty Little Liars meets The Society, the 10-part series followed the complicated lives of a group of high school students who get stranded on an island following a plane crash. We LOVED it.

The good news is it's officially back for a second series, after Amazon renewed the show in late 2020. While we're still waiting on a release date and a trailer (boo,) we do have a rough idea about plot and what might happen next.

The official description reads, "Survival hangs in the balance for a group of teenage girls stranded on a deserted island, after the explosive discovery that what's happening to them is an elaborate social experiment. Season 2 ups the drama and keeps you guessing, with the introduction of more test subjects – a new island of teenage boys – who must also fight for survival under the watchful eye of the experiment’s puppet master."

When will The Wilds season 2 be released?

Good news! We finally have an official, confirmed release date for the second season of The Wilds. Announcing the news on their Instagram account, Prime Video wrote, "You’ve all waited long enough. save the date - #TheWilds is back 6 May, 2022 on @PrimeVideo."

The Wilds season 1 was released at the beginning of December 2020, having filmed in locations across New Zealand a year earlier in October 2019. Filming for the seconds series was delayed, but thankfully not for long, and we only have a few months to wait for the second instalment.

When was The Wilds season 2 announced?

The news was shared via Instagram on 19th December 2020, with various cast members appearing in a video that teases: "Should we tell them? I don't know if they're ready... Haven't you heard the news? I think we should tell them. You sure? Together? Ok... Three, two one.. We're headed back for Season Two."

What will happen in The Wilds season 2?

The synopsis for series 1 read: "A group of teen girls from different backgrounds must fight for survival after a plane crash strands them on a deserted island. The castaways both clash and bond as they learn more about each other, the secrets they keep, and the traumas they've all endured. There’s just one twist to this thrilling drama… these girls did not end up on this island by accident."

*Spoilers* At the end of season 1, Leah discovers the 'Dawn of Eden' girls aren't the only "stranded" teens being watched, escaping her room to discover a surveillance area with screens showing a group of boys. A file on the desk reads 'The Twilight of Adam'. OMG. That's got to take centre stage next season, right?

Fans are also desperate to know what happened to Nora (is she alive?), how Rachel's hand has healed, and the fate of Martha. Hmm..

Who will star in The Wilds season 2

Judging by the announcement for the second season, we can expect Sarah Pidgeon (Leah), Sophia Ali (Fatin), Jenna Clause (Martha), Reign Edwards (Rachel), Mia Healey (Shelby), Shannon Berry (Dot), Helena Howard (Nora) and Erana James (Toni) to all return in season 2.

Plus, Deadline confirmed on 13th May 2021 that there will be a whole new group of cast members. Zack Calderon, Aidan Laprete, Nicholas Coombe, Charles Alexander, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Reed Shannon, Tanner Ray Rook and Alex Fitzalan will be joining, presumably to make up 'The Twilight Of Adam' group. Their characters (in chronological order):

• Rafael Garcia, a quiet, sensitive teenager who gravitates toward people with stronger, more charismatic personalities than his own.
• Henry Tanaka, an reclusive type who prefers to retreat into the safety of his noise-canceling headphones and dwell on the darkness in the world.
• Josh Herbert, a talkative, awkward and nervous teenager from a wealthy family in San Diego
• Kirin O’Conner, a short-tempered lacrosse player who doesn’t have much patience for weakness.
• Ivan Taylor, an activist and aspiring playwright with an impeccable fashion sense and a razor-sharp wit.
• Scotty Simms, a fast-talking teenage entrepreneur
• Scotty’s best friend Bo Leonard, a soft-spoken, contemplative teenager from Florida.
• Seth Novak, who is funny, smart and full of charisma

What have fans said about The Wilds season 2?

It's safe to say The Wilds fans are super excited for a second series to drop, and can't stop talking about it on social media. "Amazon DROP SEASON 2 of #TheWilds I already!!!! I watched season one last week and I’m about to do it again," one person said.

Another wrote, "ALL I WANT RN IS SEASON 2 OF THE WILDS" while a third said, "45 days left of 2021 that means we’re closer to The Wilds season 2."

Another fan simply put, "I need season 2 of The Wilds to come out FUCKING YESTERDAY."

It's safe to say this fanbase are excited.
