Hi, I'm Elaine D'Farley,

I'm the beauty director at SELF magazine.

Here's your one minute makeover.

(upbeat music)

[Narrator] Although Velcro rollers may seem like

vintage relex from your grandmothers beauty parlor,

they are still one of the best flatness fighters out there.

Here's how to add them into your hair styling routine

to give your hair a boost.

Spray volumizer on the roots of your damp towel dried hair.

Give your hair a rough blow dry

by turning your head upside down.

Tousle with your fingers, flipping from side to side.

Focus on the roots to fight flatness.

Grab a chunk of your partially dried hair

starting at the front, and secure it with a clip.

(upbeat music)

Clip a second chunk behind it.

(upbeat music)

The third and final chunk will be at the crown of your head.

Using a round brush, extend the hair

and blast it at the root.

(upbeat music)

Place the roller behind the hair at the ends,

rolling it toward your scalp.

(upbeat music)

Clip it at the base so it doesn't leave a mark.

Repeat on the second section, working your way forward.

Roll,

and clip.

Always give a heat blast at the root.

Extend the hair,

roll,

and clip.

(upbeat music)

After you roll the top sections, finish blow drying.

Let your hair cool and start with

the first roller in the back.

Unroll it completely, extending the hair

so that it doesn't get tangled.

Take out all the rollers and shake out your hair.

Flip upside down, run your fingers loosely

through the hair at the scalp, vavoom.

And it's that easy.
