Founded in 2011 by mortician Caitlin Doughty, The Order Of The Good Death aims to “bring discussions of mortality back into the public sphere,” whether that means helping people confront their own death fears, the death of loved ones, the afterlife (or lack thereof), grief, corpses, bodily decomposition, or all of the above. We asked Doughty our most pressing question about death: Do you really poop when you die? According to her, it happens, but not as often as pop culture would have you believe.
