I haven't always been the biggest fan of Jollibee, while I find the chicken is always really crispy I've found it to be really bland in the past.

But I was a fan of the Spicy chicken burger, so when I heard that the Chickenjoy was getting a makeover I couldn't have been more excited.

The new piece of chicken comes with a very well seasoned and spicy coating, which was so crisp that even the chicken skin ended up delicious.

I made my way down to my local Jollibee store this morning, racing to try the new menu item in this very exclusive taste test.

Yes, that means I had fried chicken for breakfast shortly after 10am.

As some of you may recall, I've been less than impressed with some early morning taste tests (yes, I am referring to the Festive Bake at 9am).

But I couldn't have been happier with this one!

The Spicy seasoning does have quite a kick to it, I'd place it somewhere between Medium and Hot on the Nando's scale but you can probably cool it down with some mayo.

I really am quite a fan of this, it's well seasoned, juicy and tender.

I've never tried a piece of fried chicken that manages to do it all so effortlessly, and at the price you truly can't complain.

You can get yourself a piece of the hot chicken for less than £2 (and I'd honestly say that paired with fries and a drink you've got a decently sized meal).

I actually preferred it to Popeyes, which I recently tried as it's made it's way over to the UK.

I'd been on the fence about Jollibee before trying this but they've definitely won me over now.

I'll definitely be leading my friends over to get the spicy chicken (I still think the plain is just a little too bland) from now on.

I really liked that the spicy chicken had a little flag to identify it too, it's a nice little touch that makes the whole eating experience much smoother. And it means that you don't have to eat
