Paper Trading at Webull

If you want to practice trading stocks, ETFs, closed-end funds, or option contracts without using real money, Webull has a solution for you. The brokerage firm offers simulated trading on all three of its software platforms (web browser, mobile app, and desktop program) at no cost. Because fake money is used for demo trades, there is basically no risk.

Entering Practice Mode on Webull

To place a simulated trade at Webull using fake money, you first need to switch the platform to demo mode. On the browser platform, there is a Paper Trading icon in the vertical left-hand menu. Click on it and the software will open a new workspace with the paper-trading order ticket. Webull Paper Trading on desktop On the desktop system, the same layout is available. On the mobile app, go to the Menu section (by tapping the Menu icon in the bottom menu) and scroll down to the Shortcuts section. Tap on the More icon. On the next page, scroll down to the Trading section. Here, you will see the paperTrade icon. Tap on it and you’ll enter the demo-trading area.

Order Tickets

The order ticket in simulated mode is usually a simplified version of Webull’s regular order ticket. Market and limit are the only two order types available in demo trading. This means advanced order types (which are available in live mode) cannot be used. The short sell button that appears on the regular ticket is also missing in demo mode. So, it is not possible to practice short selling in paper trading. There are two duration options in simulated mode: day and GTC (good til canceled). Extended hours can be turned on, which allows practice trades to execute during pre-market or after-hours sessions. The desktop platform offers several trade tickets in practice mode. They are: - Classic Trade - Order Entry - TurboTrader - Price Ladder Even though some of these tickets are simplified, they still provide a good way to practice without risking real money. Webull Demo Trading of Option Contracts

To practice options trading, you need to use the mobile app. This is the only platform where Webull allows demo trading of options. Once you are on the paper-trading page, tap the Options icon, enter the ticker symbol of the underlying security, and you will see the list of contracts. Only calls and puts can be traded; multi-leg strategies are not available in demo mode. Tap on a bid or ask price to open the options order ticket.

Resetting Webull Practice Account Value

Webull’s paper trading starts with an account value of $100,000. This amount is, of course, fake money.
