Weight Watchers cease operations in Ireland

It is not currently clear when or if the company's operations will resume in Ireland.

The weight loss programme WeightWatchers - which is now known as just WW - will pull out of Ireland before the end of the year. Both in-person and online workshops will stop operating on 31 December 2021 as WW International Inc. acquires WW Ireland. It is not currently clear when or if the company's operations will resume in Ireland. Those with digital account for WW GBR will be able to access online tools for free until 1 March 2022. In a statement published by The Sun, the company addressed customers and outlined how Irish WW members would be affected. It reads: "At WW International, our ambition is to bring wellness to everyone. "WW International, Inc. is acquiring WW Ireland. In connection with this acquisition, WW Ireland is ceasing all Workshops (In-Person and Virtual) and other business operations (At Home) in Ireland as of December 31, 2021. "Your WW Ireland Workshop membership will end on December 31, 2021." The statement continued: "Following the acquisition, WW International will evaluate future potential WW offerings in Ireland. At this time, there is no timeline as to when any WW offerings will resume in Ireland, but members living in Ireland are welcome to continue to engage with WW GBR Limited, an affiliate of WW International, directly for digital tools." In light of the news of WW Ireland's closure, Unislim, an Irish health and wellness slimming company, has waived the joining fee for former WW members.
