Converse is a shoe company that started early in the 20th century as a manufacturer of rubber-soled footwear. The styles of the shoes have gone through many changes over the years but Converse still produces simple shoes for athletes.

Chuck Taylors

The classic Converse shoe is the Chuck Taylor All Star, a flat rubber-soled shoe in high-top or low-top style, made with a thin layer of canvas.

Basketball Shoes

Converse's basketball shoes are bulky, with arched rubber soles and leather. Nearly all of Converse's basketball shoes are in high-top style.

Skate Shoes

Skate shoes are generally low tops, with rubber soles and made of suede. These are much more flexible than the stiff leather high tops of basketball shoes.

Running Shoes

Running Shoes (also known as court shoes) are designed for simple athletic activities such as running or jogging. They are either made of suede or leather and have varying degrees of thickness for the rubber soles.

Casual Shoes

Converse's casual style is similar to the Chuck Taylor All Star. These shoes are designed simply for fashion and come in every imaginable color. They may be made out of suede, canvas or leather, but they almost always have a rubber sole.
