What Axolotls Eat In Minecraft - Screen Rant

Axolotls are one of Minecraft's many animals, spawning underwater within the lush caves biome, and players can breed axolotls in Minecraft by using their favorite food. Fortunately, axolotls in Minecraft are much less rare than their real-life counterparts, which are an endangered species. While Axolotls in Minecraft are generally passive toward players and can be collected easily, they will attack other aquatic mobs, as well as drowned zombies. Unlike some of the other aquatic creatures in Minecraft, axolotls can leave the water and walk on land without dying; however, they won't stray too far from the water's edge and will die if out of water for too long.

Axolotls were added in Minecraft's 1.17 update, as the first part of the two-part Caves & Cliffs update which introduced new creatures, plants, and blocks. Axolotls can spawn in five different colors: pink (known as Leucistic), brown (known as Wild), gold, cyan, and blue. Blue is the rarest axolotl color in Minecraft, with a measly 0.083% spawn rate. Once collected in a water bucket, players can re-home axolotls in lakes and ponds as desired. Alternatively, players can attach a lead to an axolotl if they don't have a bucket; however, they will die if out of water for longer than five minutes unless it's raining.

Axolotls in Minecraft are passive so they can easily be caught once found. Once a player has obtained two adult axolotls in Minecraft, they can be bred by feeding both axolotls a bucket of their favorite food, tropical fish. Axolotls only eat buckets of tropical fish, which can generally be found in ocean biomes, including the lush caves biome which is home to axolotls. There are many different varieties of tropical fish in Minecraft, however, so they consistently spawn as schools of fish, rather than individually, and can be found in lukewarm or warm oceans.

Feeding Axolotls In Minecraft: What Do They Eat?

What Axolotls Eat In Minecraft Axolotl In Water

To collect tropical fish to feed to an axolotl, Minecraft players will need to use a water bucket, an empty bucket that's been filled with water by using it on a water source block. A water bucket can be used to collect and transport aquatic mobs in Minecraft and using a water bucket on tropical fish will return a bucket of tropical fish to the player. To breed axolotls in Minecraft, players will need to feed two adult axolotls a bucket of tropical fish each. The adult axolotls will enter "Love Mode" and breed, producing a baby axolotl. Baby axolotls reach adulthood in 20 minutes; however, the player can speed up the aging process by feeding the baby axolotl more buckets of tropical fish.

Axolotls are an adorable addition to Minecraft and one of the most popular additions from 2021's Caves & Cliffs update. Locating and collecting axolotls in Minecraft is a straightforward process, as is collecting tropical fish, axolotl's favorite food. Blue axolotls are Minecraft's most rare variety, with an extremely low spawn rate. However, once a player has collected two adult axolotls, breeding them is extremely easy, so players can test their luck trying to produce a blue baby axolotl.
