Are you asking literally which came first or which one of the two franchises the people responding discovered first? If it's the former, it's already been answered. If it's the latter, I learned about Pokemon before I heard about Digimon. Oh, look! I wrote a fanfic! Weak (One-Shot. Rated G). Can Iris convince Bianca that she can't just avoid her problems? I'm fairly certain Digimon was first in Japan, though I think Pokémon crossed tot he west first. I couldn't find exact release dates for either. Closest I could find was that the first episode of the Digimon anime aired in March 1996, and that the first Pokémon game was released in 1996. The two were released very close to each other, and I doubt either really 'stole' from the other in their conception. However, I'm sure both have borrowed elements from the other as time has passed. P
