The world of Naruto is vast, and after 700+ episodes, things can get a bit confusing. In the Naruto-verse, created by Masashi Kishimoto, chakra natures and knowledge of them is of utmost importance. There are five basic elemental chakra natures that are the foundation of all elemental ninjutsu: Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and Lightning. While the five basic natures are self-explanatory, some shinobi are born with more than one nature and can also combine two natures to access several Kekei Genkai Combination Natures like the Wood release Lava release, etc.

Aside from the five elemental nature transformations, there are two natures transformations that are the source of all non-elemental techniques: Yin Release and Yang Release. Yin Release is based on the imagination and spiritual energy of a shinobi, while Yang Release is based on the vitality and physical energy of a shinobi. Together, they are used to perform Yin-Yang Release.

How Many Chakra Natures Does Naruto Have?

If you watch the initial episodes, you'll soon see that Naruto was originally born with the wind chakra nature. However, as the series progresses, Naruto develops several different ninjutsu's and can use many more than just the five basic natures. This is because, as Kakashi explains, while a shinobi might have been born with only one strong chakra nature, they are not limited to only one.

Naruto gained access to all five primary natures of fire, water, wind, earth, and lightning, including the yin, yang, and yin-yang releases along with several Kekei Genkai Combination Natures. This was because Naruto gained the Senjutsu of the Sage of Six Paths, AKA the original Ten-Tails Jinchuriki. When the Rikodu Sennin gave him the Senjutsu, Naruto was able to tap into the chakra natures of all of the tailed beasts.

This means that Naruto could then create a Rasengan with any of the natures that the Nine beasts possessed, including the Yin-Yang Release, which Naruto also uses to give Kakashi a new eye. In conclusion, Naruto possesses the wind, lightning, earth, fire, water, lava, magnet, boil, yin, yang, and yin-yang as his nature types.
