 This week I was invited to make a keynote address at my undergraduate alma mater.  The Dean of Students asked my husband what I like to do for fun so he could say something personal about me when he introduced me to the student body.  Without hesitation, my husband answered, "Work.  She works for fun."  Then the Dean turned to look at me in search of a more appropriate answer and I was at a loss.  My husband was right, I work all the time.  Now, I'll be honest with you, I don't like to talk about the importance of passion in business success.  Why?  Because passion doesn't make payroll.  It requires strong business skills and discipline to build a successful company.  Passion alone won't get you there.But I realize passion is the energy that keeps entrepreneurs going.  I love what I do which is why I work as many hours as I do.  Yes, all those hours of hard work help you achieve your goals, but it would be impossible to make that kind of commitment to a business about which you aren't passionate.  So what do entrepreneurs do for fun?  If you are like me you work because work is fun.  It's all about taking an idea, nurturing it, and building an environment in which it can flourish.  To me that's fun.  What about you?
