Pretty new to jets, wondering what the flaps do. < > Showing 1-7 of 7 comments maty-lite View Profile View Posts 17 Apr, 2017 @ 6:44am adjust your lift and maneurverability of the aircraft. Flaps down means your aircraft will have more control as well as more lift, however this comes at a cost of lower top end speed and fuel economy for starters #1 maty-lite View Profile View Posts 17 Apr, 2017 @ 6:46am take offs and landings should be performed with flaps down due to the lower speeds involved. This is coming from an aero engineer, I don't do any fixed wing flying in arma so as far as if the flight model is correct I don't know #2 Dazven View Profile View Posts 17 Apr, 2017 @ 6:52am To add here, this is not something you want to really use in a combat situation. Your turn rate may increase, but it can lead you into a stall due to lack of energy(Which is more important in most cases) if you aren't monitoring it carefully. Speed is life, energy(Essentially speed, will allow you to fight in the vertical plane[Using altitude to fight] rather than horizontal[Turn fighting]). Not like you should be using it much anyway, though it would be nice if we had the ability to use airbrakes. In most cases you want to use it during takeoff and landing, it allows for you to not stall when at slower speeds than you would if you had them retracted.ARMA has a poor representation of aircraft flight, but such applies in a limited sense. #3 VentHorror View Profile View Posts 17 Apr, 2017 @ 7:09am

Really, neato. Must have missed that on the aircraft. I can't stand ARMA aircraft so I haven't really played with them in awhile other than a short test with the Jets DLC. #5 Karmaterrorᵁᴷ View Profile View Posts 17 Apr, 2017 @ 8:35am Flaps down one notch can make it a lil easier for bombing or missile runs aswell, gives ya that couple of extra seconds to aquire target as you can move a lil slowwer. But as mentioned above, its primary use is to allow lowwer speeds (through higher lift) for takeoff and landing :) #6 Durcaz View Profile View Posts 17 Apr, 2017 @ 10:32am They just slow you down. Makes it easier to shoot at a target and also helps to slow you down when landing. Also note: They have 2 settings so if you need to slow down quick make sure you use max flaps if you need to slow down quick. #7 < > Showing 1-7 of 7 comments Per page: 1530 50 Arma 3 > General Discussions > Topic Details Date Posted: 17 Apr, 2017 @ 6:39amPosts: 7 Discussions Rules and Guidelines Close
