Joined Sep 9, 2000 Messages 6,266 My mom was recently in a new building of a general hospital. She asked if she would be moved to the ward. The young nurse told her, "It's not called a ward. It's called a Dorm." Is this news to anyone besides me? Iimabrat

Joined Aug 31, 2003 Messages 9,949 I just call it floor. I spent the majority of my time on the oncology "floor", but a few times I would stay in the ICU. I've also spent time on the orthopedic "floor". None of my nurses, doctors, residents, whathaveyou ever said anything.

Joined May 6, 2004 Messages 5,361 I work in a hospital and we refer to them as floors. I don't understand the need to correct your mother though, she should be free to call it whatever she wants
