Meaning

You can say this if you see someone doing something they shouldn't be doing.

For example

  • I caught my brother reading my diary. "What do you think you're doing?" I yelled.
  • When Ben's Mum saw him eating snacks, she said, "What are you doing? The doctor told you not to eat that stuff!"
Note:Mostly used as rhetorical questions, as are similar phrases like "Where do you think you're going?", "Who do you think you're kidding?", "Who do you think you are?", etc.
