After eating dog meat, beef seems tasteless – according to a man who has tried it.
Blogger Mark Wiens of travel food website migrationology.com ate dog several times when staying with friends in Guangxi Province, south China.
He said: “It’s a red meat, quite fatty, and extremely fragrant.
“Take a cross between beef and mutton, add extra meaty flavouring, and you’ve got the taste of dog.
"It’s so delicious that if it wasn’t for the thought of eating dog, everyone would probably love it.”
Dog is considered a delicacy in South Korea and parts of China.
Food author Stefan Gates set out to South Korea to give it a try as part of a BBC documentary, and examined how dogs were raised, sold and cooked.
He discovered dog farms had cages with two to three animals in each.
Article continues belowHe said: “The dogs were very healthy, well fed and, if tail wagging is a good indicator, they seemed happy.”
In the end Gates couldn’t bring himself to eat it.
