What Does El Camino Mean After The Movie's Netflix Release? - Metro

Netflix have dropped El Camino: a Breaking Bad movie, and it’s certainly making waves.

Metro.co.uk gave it four stars, calling it ‘a worthwhile last bow for Jesse Pinkman’.

As Breaking Bad fans everywhere are treated to a fitting end to the fan-favourite character’s story, here’s a quick look at the meaning of El Camino.

What does El Camino mean?

El Camino is Spanish for ‘the way’.

The title of the movie references the car in which Jesse makes his escape at the end of the series finale.

Jesse suffered a great deal when, during the final season, he was held hostage by white supremacists, led by Jack (Michael Bowen), Todd’s (Jesse Plemons) uncle, and made to cook meth for them.

When he tried to escape and refused to cook for them any longer, Todd made him watch as he killed Jesse’s girlfriend Andrea (Emily Rios).

Walt (Bryan Cranston) eventually rescued Jesse from his captors, killing Todd and Jack but dying himself in the process.

The last we saw of Jesse in the show was him driving off in Todd’s car, an El Camino.

As he fled, the clearly traumatised Jesse cried and laughed hysterically.

The movie picks up right where the show left off and follows Jesse as he goes on the run from the police.
