In years past (on other vehicles) the monickure LS for instance was an acronym for "Luxury Sport" and LT = "Luxury Touring" but in recent years these acronyms have become diluted with the addition of extra characters such as: “LSi” and “LTZ” which obviously have no meaning. I have not seen a LSi latley but they all have meaning. While the letters may not represent a specific word they still designate a specific trim and option level. The LTZ is the luxury trim package and the Z represents it as being the highest level of options that come standard in that package as Z is the last letter of the alphabet. LSi was only used on the Chevy prism and geo metro that I am aware seeing I was a GM service manager for 7 years. I can only speculate that perhaps it means intermediate as I never cared enough to find out. Those car in my opinion were throw away vehicles. The LSi was not a base model and did have more options such as power windows etc. I just purchased a 2015 Silverado 4x4 LTZ and there is a huge difference between a lS or a LT compared to my LTZ. So it does have a actual designation. Last edited by onkyo357; May 27, 2015 at 11:13 AM. Don't forget, there are subsets of the LT designation, not sure if they carried into the new 2014+ trucks. LS is generally cloth seating, LT and higher is leather seating. Base/no designation - fleet/government LS LT 1LT 2LT 3LT LTZ Reply 0 0

In my research I noticed the Tracker LSI (1999 - 2004) was the only model available aside from the "Base" (plus the ZR2, ltd edition off road package). Turns out base = 2 door, and LSI = 4 door. Thus, "Luxury Sedan" -- just like my 1960 Biscayne LS sedan from many years ago. Oh, and the Tracker has fuel injection. Thus, LSi. My $.02.
