I knew before I graduated from college with my bachelors degree in art, that I wanted a career that I enjoyed that paid well but also had the work life balance needed for me to pursue my passion on the side. I initially tried working in sales but it wasn’t for me, I later decided to become a drafter once I realized that the number of skills I possess in design tie in to the field. Another motivating factor that made me want to get into the field was that I got tired of working at retail stores doing things that I didn’t enjoy doing while making just enough money to survive. Especially after doing my research in the field, I chose to go back to school and major in the field, and it turns out that I was the most advanced drafting student because my skills in graphic and digital design tied in very closely with CAD, so I was already ahead of everyone else in the major.I eventually ended up getting a job in the drafting field where I worked for a little over 2 months. While at the job, I learned a great deal about CAD and what goes into working as a professional draftsman. After a number of rookie mistakes when I was there and not getting caught up to speed fast enough with the company standards of my work, I was eventually fired. After going through that experience, it truly lit a fire under me to get another job in the field and this time excel this time, especially learning what I had learned from being at that job. I currently am back working at a retail store, but have been applying for other drafting jobs.Share your experience

comfortable environment

Cons

stressful work. negative response is related in anyway to the job you'll be doing. So if the job is boring and a lot of repetitive tasks are involved and you say you don't like to do something daily they might weed you out. My answer would be, I really can't think of something I dislike doing every single day. Just because they ask the question doesn't mean you have to have a negative answer!
