What is a trunk show?A trunk show is a special event whereby a bridal boutique hosts a particular designer’s collection for a limited time. This is a unique opportunity to try on a designer’s collection straight from the runway, before they are available in stores. Plus view designs from previous collections that aren’t stocked permanently in the boutique. It is not (despite what the name may indicate!) a fashion parade or a runway show. The name actually comes from the notion of a dresses travelling in a suitcase (or trunk!), visiting different boutiques around the country.
Why should I go to one?You will be able to view the latest collection months before they are available in store and see all of the latest bridal trends of the season. Trunk shows are a great opportunity to access gowns that you wouldn't normally be able to, as each boutique can only carry a select capsule version of each collection and not the full range from each designer. Or the boutique doesn’t have a physical store in the city the trunk show is being held.
What should I expect?Traditionally, a trunk show consultation works much like a regular bridal consultation - there are just more dresses to try on than usual! For luxury bridal brands, however, like Galia Lahav Haute Couture, trunk shows can be a little different. A VIP experience designed to complement the gowns, including perks such as champagne.
Do I need to say 'yes'?Some designers require the bride to be documented in the sample of her chosen gown so the boutique can place the order. This means that you will be asked to make a decision at the time of your appointment. Most dresses are only available during the trunk show period so it is advised to place an order at this time, as this is the only opportunity you will have to try it on.
When is the next trunk show? Please email [email protected] to stay up-to-date with our trunk show dates.
