Have you ever heard your skilled teammates boast about their “Alpha boost” in Rocket League? It’s an understandable flex, as Alpha Boost isn’t something that just anyone can get their hands on. 

Motorsports and racing games have evolved drastically in the past few years, but Psyonix’s motorized soccer game remains popular. Thanks to the vivid visuals and an unusual concept, Rocket League is one of the most enjoyable games out there and is rewarding to play. However, not everything can be easily earned in Rocket League and Alpha Boost is the perfect example. 

Psyonix’s soccer game was released in 2015, but the developer had allowed select players to try out the game during the exploratory phase of development. In return, those players were rewarded with fierce items that have since been pulled out from the game. These rare items sell for crazy rates and are super valuable. The items awarded during alpha and beta testing included a Gold Cap (Topper), Gold Rush (Boost), Goldstone (Wheels), and a Gold Nugget (Antenna).

Items in Rocket League sell for credits that cost real money. You can shop 100 credits for $1, which may sound cheap. However, rare items like Alpha Boost come for hefty credits. Here’s how much each Alpha/Beta item cost in Rocket League. 

• Gold Nugget – 14,000 to 22,000 credits
• Gold Cap – 120,000 to 150,000 credits
• Gold Rush – 800,000 to 900,000 credits
• Goldstone – 350,000 to 450,000 credits

What is Alpha Boost in Rocket League? 

The four rare items were given out to players in 2014, but Alpha Boost has risen through the ranks, becoming one of the most sought-after items. The Gold Rush (Alpha Boost) is currently worth $5,000 due to its dragon aesthetic and the elite Alpha version tag. 

The fire boost can be bought for between 700,000 and 800,000 credits, and that will cost you big money. While the equivalent of $5,000 will strain your wallet, the boost is worth it for some players as it earns the title of “OG Rocket league” player. Despite appearing like simple dragon fire, this item’s rare nature has made it a precious commodity. 

Unfortunately, even if you do skip the necessary meals to save up this amount of cash, it’s unlikely that you can grab the rare Gold Rush for yourself. Very few players own the item in 2021, and they’re generally not up for selling the item that can’t be acquired from the market. Alpha Boost has been pulled out of the general store and may only be purchased from other players via trade.
