Me did a little research for you (google) as I dont play Bowazons since they got nerfed in 1.10. The best bow I can find is a "Grand Matron Bow" that can spawn with "+3 to Bow & Crossbow skills". This bow can have upto 5 sockets and is cLvl-58 to use (Standard is 14-72 dmg although superior would be better). To use it you will need 108 str & atleast 152 dex. I'm not a Bowazon, I just want to give my merc a good bow and was looking for EDGE runeword. The only runeword that is easy to do.. others need a lvl 30 (Ber) or 31 (Jah) rune that I will never find. While writing this I've done some search with the 2 bow I had a cedar and a diamond and I found the page http://www.d2data.net/item/bow_all1.html witch is very helpful. I think Diamond is one of the best to do a runeword with. A +3, with no sockets or the correct amount for a runeword must be rare indeed. I think it is actually + to bow skills, just like the zon only javs give + to jav skills. I end up using runeword bows on rogue mercs, so I stay away from the zon only bows. G

I realized that normal sorc wands and staffs came with plusses to certain skills, but I've never seen a normal one that gives plusses to all skills. Cool. G

Actually, now that I think about it, I realize my pally's weapon was a normal scepter that gave +2 concentration, +2 blessed hammer, +1 blessed aim (VERY nice for a hammerdin, which I was!). This definitely would have been nice to socket a runeword into. I've never used the A5 socket quest reward, always saved them. How many sockets does he put into whatever you give him? Must be useless if it's just one...And can you socket items that are already socketed? G

I don't know how I got the money, but this is the most convenient possible scepter for my character. So you're saying if I use the socket quest on it, it will then get 6 sockets? It might be less than six. Second, be aware that items from early in normal difficulty may be too low level to qualify for even the item MAX sockets. For example, a Kris knife can get 3 sockets. However, if you buy a Kris from the vendors in acts 1 or two normal (not sure about acts 3 and 4) then Larzuk will ONLY give 2 sockets! However, if you find a Kris in act 5 normal, then he will give it the expected 3. Do yourself a favor and read all about items on http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/items before you start (potentially) wasting your Larzuk quest rewards. G

Just realized I had Larzuk socket a Garnet Gothic Plate of Ease (17% FR, -20 req) and failed to notice he put two sockets in! Just assumed the armor was already socketed ... D'oh! Thanks for the correction ... I didn't know\realize this. Always saved my socket quests for rares & uniques ... never before 'wasted' one on a 'blue' item. J

There is no real good answer here to determine an item's level, aside from knowing the level of the area/merchant that dropped/sold it to you. As a safe rule of thumb (just a guideline - others I'm sure can give you a better answer), don't ask Larzuk to socket items that you find before act 5 normal, unless you have already seen a similar item drop with the MAX number of sockets that the Arreat Summit says it is capable of having. For example, even though a Kris is capable of getting 3 sockets, I NEVER saw a 3 socketed Kris fall in acts 1-4 of normal. Neither did I see a 3 socketed Kris offered for sale by the merchants. Because of this, even though the website told me the MAX was 3, I STILL did not give a Kris found in acts 1-4 to Larzuk. (Once I tested this in SP by buying a Kris from Farah and asking Larzuk to socket it, and guess what - he gave it only 2 sockets!) However, I have seen a 3 socketed Kris fall in act 5, therefore I know act 5 items have a high enough level to receive MAX sockets. Confused yet?
