Generally, a general election is an election where both a head of government (such as president or prime minister), all members of legislatures are elected at the same particular time. Each area has the Member of Parliament in short(MP). When you turn the age of 18, you have the right to vote in a general election to whom you want to choose your MP. On the day of the election, people go to polling stations so that they can vote. Voting nowadays takes place through electronic voting machines (EVMs).TEach person is entitled to a single vote. They tick the ballot paper with a significant cross beside the name of the candidate they want to represent. The candidate who gets more votes is declared the winner. If a political party gets success in doing that it is called winning an overall majority.Note: No political party wins more seats than all other parties put together. A political party must need to get the required number of seats, which is half of all of them plus one.
