The average tiger has a height of 3 to 3 1/2 feet from the ground to the shoulders and a head and body length of 4.6 to 9.2 feet. Different types of tigers have various weights, with the heaviest being the Siberian tiger at an average of 400 to 675 lbs.

In all subspecies, females are smaller than males. On the average, males weigh up to 1/7 more than females, with a significant difference in larger species. The smallest tiger subspecies is the Sumatran tiger, which weighs an average of 220 to 310 lbs. The largest tiger in the wild with its weight recorded was a Bengal tiger shot in 1967, which weighed 858 lbs.
