What is The Deepest Above Ground Pool You Can Get? Posted on September 7, 2018, in Above Ground Pools By Ashley Sides Horner

If you and your family have decided the best way to spend warm summers is in your own private pool, it can bring about a lot of excitement. With all the decisions to be made above or in ground pools is a common one. Often times above ground pools are looked at as having little flexibility. Although when done well, above ground pools can provide just as much excitement and appeal as an in ground pool.

One common question when it comes to searching for the best above ground pool, is how deep can you go? With exciting cannonball contests and pool games that let you swim to the bottom, this can be a must for some kids. Consider these important points when looking for a deep above ground pool.

Above Ground Pool Options

When it comes to choosing which above ground pool option is best, you are typically presented with three choices. Above ground pools with wall heights of 48″, 52″, or 54″. It is also important to consider the water level, which will typically by about 6” lower than the height of the pool wall.

Typically most find this completely suitable to their swimming needs. Although some do prefer pools with depths greater than 4 feet. One way this can work is to seek out above ground pools that have both shallow and deep options, similar to many in ground pools.

How Deep Are we Talking?

You may be thinking above ground pools cannot be that deep, but they can actually go as far down as 8 feet or more! This is due to the elasticity of the vinyl liners. The vinyl liner can accommodate a space that may not be shaped exactly like a perfect pool. When installing, make sure it is over a gradual slope. Most liners are restricted to not be able to stretch farther than 1 foot deeper than the center of the pool. In simple terms, if your pool walls reach 5 feet, the center cannot exceed 6 feet. If there is not enough elasticity, go for the expandable liners to help accommodate everyone’s preference and the surrounding landscape.
