What's the difference between placing a Bid and using "Buy Now"?

Placing a Bid will allow you to set how much you want to pay for an item. If you have the highest Bid price for an item on the site, it will be up to a Seller to decide if they are interested in meeting you at your offer. If you are included in our closed beta, you can use our Smart Bidding feature to make managing your price even easier. We’ll automatically increase your Bid by your chosen amount, up to your maximum Bid. For more information, visit our FAQ: What is Smart Bidding?Buy Now immediately purchases your item from the Seller with the lowest Ask—if you like the current price of an item in the size you’re trying to purchase, this is the easiest way to lock in with a Seller and make sure it doesn't slip through your fingers.
