Slovakia Slovak & Czech Hello, Which one is correct? There is a movie in a cinema. I dont know the name of that movie. Question would be: What is its name, What is the name of it, What is the name of its? Also I would like to know, how it works for he/she. What is her name ? - What is the name of her/hers? I dont know why we say Teacher of mine instead of Teacher of me or my teacher. Can anyone explain to me what pronoun comes after of? name of her or of hers? = his/her name. Thank you heypresto

South East England English - England What is its name? :tick: What is the name of it? :tick: but this sounds strange with 'it'. What is the name of its? :cross: But we would most likely say 'What is the name of this film?' What is her name? :tick: What is the name of her/hers? :cross: E

London England England English I don't think a film has a name, it has a atitle. So I would ask "What is its title?". LV4-26

Yes, absolutely right. Of course that makes it sound as if the film has a name, I agree. But I still don't think we can speak of 'the name of the film'. R

South East England English - England We are unlikely to ask 'What's it called?' unless we have already mentioned it in one way or another. And then, we are asking for the object's name. A: That's an interesting looking tool, what's it called? B: A screwdriver. 'What's this?' can be asked any time, and the answer might be the object's name, or a description of what it does. A: What's this? B: It's a tool for screwing screws in. B: It's a screwdriver. R
