Who is Todd Chrisley?

Todd Chrisley is the patriarch of the Chrisley clan.

He is best known for his USA Network family reality show, Chrisley Knows Best, which has been on air since 2014.

Todd is known to fans as materialistic and flashy, recklessly spending on nice cars and expensive clothes.

He lives in a $3.3million home in Nashville with wife Julie.

“We’re not trying to clean it up for you and I think that’s why our show has resonated with so many millions of viewers,” he once told Variety.

Earlier this year, Todd was hospitalized for coronavirus.

The 51-year-old father of five had been fighting the COVID-19 symptoms for some days before begging his wife to take him to the hospital.

Todd opened up about his battle with the virus on his podcast with his wife Julie and explained he had spent several days in the hospital.

He told listeners: “I have been battling corona for three weeks, I was in the hospital for four and a half days and it has been the sickest I have been.

“I cannot tell you about a moment in my life where I have been as sick as I was with the corona.”

In addition to filing for personal bankruptcy in 2012, his now-defunct investment firm, Chrisley Asset Management (CAM), filed for corporate bankruptcy in 2013.

As a result of his financial woes, the Chrisleys were forced to scale back their opulent lifestyle.

Nowadays, it is thought that Todd’s primary source of income is the show and the sponsorship gigs he’s received as a result.

In August last year, Todd and Julie were indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of bank and wire fraud and tax evasion.

The couple was accused of falsifying bank and financial statements between 2007 and 2012 to avoid paying nearly $2million in state taxes.

They blamed their criminal activity on a former employee.

“I’ve never talked about this publicly before, but there’s been a cloud hanging over Julie and me and our entire family for the past seven years,” Todd shared in a statement shortly after his arrest.

“We discovered that a trusted employee of ours had been stealing from us big time… It involved all kinds of really bad stuff like creating phony documents, forging our signatures, and threatening other employees with violence if they said anything.”

The pair were cleared of the state tax evasion charges and agreed to pay the Georgia Department of Revenue around $110,000 in October.
