What's the best way to black out a chrome window trim?
What's the best way of doing it - considering wrapping it but just worried about how long it would last

Perhaps you can try Plasti Dipping the trim, pretty easy to do and easy to peel off when you don't like it anymore. +1

I hate plastidip and wraps but in this case it would be the way to go, chrome is notoriously hard to get paint to stick to, it can be done with 2k epoxy primer but not really something for a home gamer to diy.

A good quality wrap will last the lifetime of the vehicle.

Nope, plasti dip does not chip as it just stretches since its a rubber coating, and if you put on enough coats (around 4-5 coats) it is very durable... plasti dipped my grill on my previous vehicle and it was rock solid, not one chip or tear despite doing a few road trips.

easiest would be plastidip. Other than that, you could vinyl wrap it but for long term, you'd likely want to use a primer on it such as 3m 94 Smash that like button!

Just been getting quotes to get it wrapped - they ranges from $220-$400!! These prices seem ridiculous. Is this the going rate?
Yeah...also the cost will depend more on the labour cost....how they will remove/reinstall the part sand difficulty of wrapping it...my advice accept the beauty of chrome...

For a seamless wrap, they will likely wrap the full length from front to back (window to window) and cut out each window opening and edge of the trims (no savings in material due to waste).

Cost of material for these guys should be really low- ordering good quality vinyl wrapping doesn't cost that much. Most places said it takes around 2 hours though

To each their own but doesn't (the right amount of) chrome give a car a high-end, classy look? "Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect."

The material isn't much but the labour involved in wrapping trip is much more involved than wrapping, say, a hood or roof. The quote of 220-400 for 2 hours of labour + material is about right...
