What's the best way to black out a chrome window trim?

What's the best way of doing it - considering wrapping it but just worried about how long it would last

A good quality wrap will last the lifetime of the vehicle.

Nope, plasti dip does not chip as it just stretches since its a rubber coating, and if you put on enough coats (around 4-5 coats) it is very durable... plasti dipped my grill on my previous vehicle and it was rock solid, not one chip or tear despite doing a few road trips.

6mthatch Deal Addict Aug 10, 2013 2891 posts 2179 upvotes easiest would be plastidip. Other than that, you could vinyl wrap it but for long term, you'd likely want to use a primer on it such as 3m 94 Smash that like button!

For a seamless wrap, they will likely wrap the full length from front to back (window to window) and cut out each window opening and edge of the trims (no savings in material due to waste).

Cost of material for these guys should be really low- ordering good quality vinyl wrapping doesn't cost that much. Most places said it takes around 2 hours though

Desii [OP] Member Jun 22, 2009 309 posts 187 upvotes Toronto Decided to try plastidip + glossifier this weekend just to see how it turns out. If its bad or doesn't last I'll go with the vinyl.

The material isn't much but the labour involved in wrapping trip is much more involved than wrapping, say, a hood or roof. The quote of 220-400 for 2 hours of labour + material is about right...
