UK-Wales - English It depends. If it refers to what I'm doing, I might say, "Not a lot" or "just working/watching tv or whatever". If it's intended as another way of saying, "how are things?" I'd just say Fine.Giordano Bruno

English, England it is usually one of those nonsense questions used as a lazy way of starting a conversation. You may generally reply with anything you wish. If someone has given you a specific task, it may be that they are trying to find out how far you have got with it and it would then require a fairly precise answer. By the way, the correct form of the question is "What are you up to?" IIndigo Girl

British Columbia Canada, English "What are you up to" is a very common and casual (informal) way of saying "What are you doing?" You may also hear people say "What's up?" which has the same implication. Your answer to this should be equally casual, as most people don't expect a long or detailed explanation of what you are doing. Siberia gave some examples. It is not often used in writing but is commonly heard in conversation. By the way, advance is spelled with a 'c' not an 's' Hope this helps. Indigo Girl You must log in or register to reply here.
