Horse racing will be back in the national spotlight on Saturday with the 148th Kentucky Derby, and fans are hoping there is less drama this time than last.

A year ago, Medina Spirit won the Kentucky Derby, only to be stripped of the win for a post-race drug test. Mandaloun was declared the winner of the race, and the team took home the $1.8 million winner's share. Bob Baffert, Medina Spirit's trainer, was suspended, and will not be able to enter any horses into the 2022 Kentucky Derby.

The favorite to begin the Triple Crown with a win is Zandon, who enters the Kentucky Derby field with 3-1 odds to finish first at Churchill Downs. Epicenter (7-2) and Messier (8-1) are next up.

What time is the Kentucky Derby today?

NBC will kick off coverage of the 2022 Kentucky Derby at 2:30 p.m. ET. Viewers will have to wait a little bit to get to the race, however, as the post time is not until 6:57 p.m. ET at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky.

Earlier races at the Kentucky Derby will begin at noon and will be broadcast on USA Network.
