What To Expect From Tom Clancy's Without Remorse 2

Will a sequel to Tom Clancy's Without Remorse ever happen? If so, when will it release, and what will the new story be? Critic reviews of the 2021 Amazon Prime movie are mixed, but the star power of Michael B. Jordan may be enough to justify Without Remorse 2.

Based on Clancy's 1993 novel, Without Remorse follows a retired Navy SEAL named John Kelly (Jordan), who gets caught up in a U.S. government conspiracy. After being targeted by Russians in a domestic terror attack in America, the protagonist and a team of black ops CIA soldiers travel overseas to confront their enemies. However, the plan goes horribly wrong, and Kelly learns that he's just a pawn in a larger game, one orchestrated by a high-ranking government official.

The Without Remorse ending reveals the specifics of Kelly's plan to set up the U.S. Secretary of Defense, Thomas Clay (Guy Pearce). However, a subsequent funeral scene initially suggests that Jordan's character drowns while seeking answers about past missions. The Amazon Prime movie then blatantly sets up a sequel, and offers a few details about the inevitable follow-up. Here's what to expect for Without Remorse 2, a presumed adaptation of Clancy's 1998 novel Rainbow Six.

Without Remorse 2, which will likely be called Rainbow Six, hasn't officially been greenlit. Paramount Pictures and co-producers may indeed be planning a multi-movie franchise, but will likely gauge streaming numbers before making any big announcements. Reviews for the movie praised Michael B. Jordan's work but not much else, still, it's those streaming numbers that matter. If Without Remorse 2 is officially greenlit, expect that to happen during the summer or fall 2021.

If Without Remorse becomes a huge streaming hit on Amazon Prime, then producers may prioritize a sequel for 2023. Given the scope of production, however, along with Jordan's busy schedule, it seems like a sequel won't release for at least three years. We'll predict that Amazon Prime would target 2024 as a premiere date for Without Remorse 2, should it happen.

Without Remorse's ending implies that a sequel will star Jordan, naturally, along with Jodie Turner-Smith as Karen Greer and Jamie Bell as the new CIA director, Robert Ritter. If the second franchise installment follows the storyline for Rainbow Six, then new villains will be cast as German and French terrorists. In Without Remorse 2, a big-name star may also be cast to portray Carlos the Jackal, a real-life figure who has been featured in The Bourne Identity and the 2010 miniseries Carlos starring Édgar Ramírez.

Tom Clancy's Without Remorse 2 Story Details

John Kelly hunts down the men involved in his wife's death

Without Remorse concludes with John Kelly faking his death and being rescued underwater by Karen Greer. One year later, he meets with the CIA director Ritter and makes the case for a multinational counter-terrorism team, consisting of U.S., UK, and NATO personnel. Kelly also asks for complete support from American intelligence services, and explains that his motivations for creating a "Rainbow" team are "personal." Based on the storyline for Rainbow Six, Without Remorse 2 will feature Jordan's character battling against several terrorist organizations. The Amazon Prime sequel may stray from the book, and potentially focus on John Kelly's continued grief after the murder of his pregnant wife in the original 2021 movie.
