What Wattage Is My Microwave Oven?
Maybe your like
The manual that came with your oven should clearly indicate what wattage microwave oven you own. However, we have received a lot of inquiries from people who can't find their manual, so we are providing this method to help you determine the wattage of your oven.
Most recipes for microwave ovens are written for the 700-watt oven. If it takes 2 minutes and 30 seconds to boil a cup of room temperature water (approximately 75°F) in your microwave oven, there is no need to convert the cooking times. However, if it takes a different amount of time for a cup of water to boil in your microwave oven, you should convert cooking times to your wattage oven. For example, if you have a 1000-watt oven and a recipe for a 700-watt calls for you took cook 1 minute 30 seconds, you would use the 1000-Watt Chart at this site to determine that in your oven the approximate cooking time is 1 minute 03 seconds.
So, boil a cup of water and watch the time. Conversion charts already available at this site have a blue link to the Chart you need in the table below. If your oven wattage does not have a link to it, we will be happy to add a chart here for you. Just post your request at our Facebook Page and let us know for what wattage oven you need a chart. Your chart will be added to this site as soon as possible.
You may also come across recipes written for an oven wattage other than 700-watt, which you need to convert to your oven. We have received many Special Requests and included those charts below the 700-watt conversion charts. Please check that section, to see if we have already created the chart you need. If it is not there, please post your request at at our Facebook Page and we'll be happy to add your chart too. Be sure to mention both the wattage you are converting from and the wattage you need to convert to in order to expedite the process.
Instructions: Find the amount of time it takes to boil one cup of water in your microwave oven in the first column, "Water Boils." The number next to it under "Oven Wattage" is a close approximation of what wattage oven you have.
