He was born on June 10, 1921, and so he would have celebrated his 100th birthday on June 10, 2021.
A palace aide told The Telegraph in 2020 that Prince Philip ‘didn’t want a fuss’ over his 100th birthday.
At the time, the source said: ‘The one person you can guarantee will not want anything to do with it, is the Duke. He’s retired, he’s stepped back, he doesn’t want the fuss. You can’t blame him.’

Prince Philip died on April 9, 2021. He was at Windsor Castle at the time.
He had initially received care for an infection, and then underwent heart surgery for a pre-existing condition, shortly before his death.

Buckingham Palace announced: ‘It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.’
‘His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.’
His cause of death was officially listed as ‘old age’, as per The Telegraph.
When was Prince Philip buried?
Prince Philip was interred in the Royal Vault at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
His funeral was held on April 17, 2021. It was ceremonial, not a state funeral, and was held with just 30 attendees due to coronavirus lockdown restrictions at the time.
Her Majesty The Queen was famously pictured sitting alone in the pews, wearing a mask and dressed in all-black, for her final farewell to her lifelong love.
His life was later commemorated in a March 2022 Service of Thanksgiving, once restrictions had eased.
However, the Royal Vault is not Prince Philip’s final resting place.
When The Queen is interred at 7.30pm on September 19, 2022, Prince Philip will be moved alongside her, at the King George VI Memorial Chapel – also part of St George’s Chapel.
There, they will remain next to each other.
