Joined Mar 25, 2013 Messages 3,937 Reaction score 623 Points 0 Before the SS arc as Renji had no idea that Rangiku has a new captain Isshin's flashback was from around 22 years ago and Toshi already started training for bankai w know that he was in the academy for a year and we also know that he knew Hinamori before the academy. She was in the academy between 40-50 years ago.... I would say that he's around 70.

However, we don't know how aging in Soul Society works exactly. Plus, characters don't start aging until their spiritual powers develop. So it's entirely possible for them to be hundreds of years old and look 30, and then 15 years later look 40. As for when Hitsugaya became Captain, we know that it was no more than around 20-30 years ago. You would think he would have been promoted to Soul Society when Isshin was exiled from Soul Society, but some of the characters talk about Hitsugaya like he had been recently promoted and we know that Divisions can go a while between Captains, but then again recently in Soul Society standards could be 30 years. Because he did not exist in the first flashback(100-110years ago). Momo went to shimigami academic around 40 years ago. So I guess he is around 50 years old. Also, in terms of human age, I think he is around 9, because Kubo describes him as a child prodigy(天才児),not even a teenager(shounen少年), and also refers him as a primary school student in the series. In the recent chapters, adult Toshiro is very tall, like over 180cm. This means he is not short, he is just too young. So considering his current height: 133cm, and his weight 28kg. Those are the physical features of a 9 year old boy. - - - Updated - - -

I think the shimigami with higher spiritual grows slower than the ones with lower spiritual power. They grow slower and become older slowly in time, but this does not mean they suddenly turn out to be much older in several years, they grow evenly.

But I'm not really interested in how old he actually is in soul society age, cuz that could literally be from 70-150 years because as Gohara said a shinigami can still look young but actually be very old, but how old he would look to be in human years. And 9 years is a bit too young..even I would consider Yachiru to be around 12. Idk if you watch the Japanese anime but his voice sounds mature enough to call him a teen.. I say around 14-15 maybe?

I think 14-15 is a bit too old, because Kubo says he's a child, 天才児。not shounen, not a teenager.(少年) Besides, 133cm is too short for a teenager. I doubt a 14 year old boy would only be 133cm. A

There's a flashback to 17 years ago which shows Momo joining the academy and Hitsugaya speaking to Hyourinmaru and then meeting Rangiku and becoming a Shinigami, but then there's another flashback ~40 years ago (I can't remember how long ago exactly) showing Momo already in the academy and Hitsugaya in Rukongai. I'm inclined to lean towards the 17 year one being correct. There's another flashback to ~15 years ago showing Hitsugaya already as a captain, meaning that Hitsugaya graduated from the academy in just one year, and became a captain pretty much as soon as Isshin left. That's the only way I can really reconcile the idea of him being a prodigy, because taking 30 years or more to learn Bankai isn't exactly prodigious considering he was already in contact with Hyourinmaru before joining the academy. There's also the fact that Shinigami appear to age normally until they hit spiritual maturity, and we know that when Hitsugaya was third seat he looked younger than he does now. Based on that, we can assume that he reached spiritual maturity at least a year after EBTR, and had only been alive for about 10 years before that (assuming he was born in Soul Society or went there as a baby, which isn't guaranteed). So I would say he became a captain ~18 years ago (accounting for the three years that has passed since the beginning of the series), after graduating from the academy in just one year and achieving Bankai over the course of the next year, during which time Isshin left Soul Society and created the vacancy he later filled.

We know that Hitsu joined after Momo and we know that he was already in Gotei years before Ichigo was born so he was in the academy around 30 maybe even more years ago. We know that it takes at least 10 years to learn BK... This is for a prodigy even amongst the captain class guys. We have the chapter when Renji becmes a VC and Ikkaku saing that Renji's and Rukia's relationship was on hold for 40 years and now it's time to bring it back to what it once were....

So are you saying he became Captain AFTER Ichigo was born? Do you think in Ichigo's teenage years, meaning no more than few years before the Bleach series starts?
