I totally get that. My almost 8 week old has a severe diaper rash so when I change him I have to let his bum dry before I apply his prescription cream and rediaper him. I know the open the diaper and close it trick and the face cloth trick but it takes a while for his bum to dry even when I dry it with a cotton cloth because I can’t wipe I have to pat and every time without fail he pees all over when everything is finally dry and I’m just getting the cream on my finger to apply. EVERY TIME!! As if dealing with this diaper rash since he’s been two weeks old, spend over $120 out of pocket on prescriptions and creams and changing my diet isn’t enough I have to start the process of washing his bum at every diaper change and air drying all over again because of pees. So frustrating!! This diaper rash is beyond frustrating!! Anyways my question is-when or do baby boys grow out of this? Sorry for the rant. I’m just so over this diaper rash. Original poster's comments (3)go to original poster's comments pageno reactions0comment Advertisement | page continues below

  • member avatarZeed3r2Wife Posted 02-11-20FYI not just a boy thing. Both of my girls peed way more during diaper changes than my boy did! And the range they get is quite surprising! But to answer your question, I'd say soon? This baby (DD2) peed the most during diaper changes out of my 3. She's almost 3m now and hasn't done it in a while. Mind you if you're doing diaper free time and have it off for longer, you're more likely to have an incident because the cold/exposed air can trigger them to pee. Good luck!Advertisement | page continues below
  • bBabyOnBoardAB Posted 02-11-20The cold air hits the penis, it causes it to contract, and its instigates peeing lol. Just beat him to the punch. Take his diaper off, sit him on a potty, let him pee in it, then let him roll around on tummy time nakey so his bum gets some air :)
  • cCJ082019 Posted 02-11-20My son had diaper rash too, what we did was let him out on the disposable pads (Amazon/Walmart) aka doggy pads everyday for a some time. We still use them today on our changing table.
  • member avatar1NovemberBaby4 Posted 02-11-20It’s hard to say when they will stop. My son rarely pees during diaper changes. Ever since birth I can probably count on one hand how many times he’s peed during a change and he’s 2 months now. My other boys peed a lot more frequently during diaper changes but I can’t remember when they stopped. I would lay a bunch of towels on the floor during tummy time and air them out when they had a rash.
  • jJBeav Posted 02-11-20It's so hard to say. My last one did it always for a few months but still sometimes did it until he was a year old. This one has only ever peed once during a change. Hopefully it stops soon for you, I know it's a pain to always be prepared for it.
  • cCharlenejak Original PosterPosted 02-11-20Thanks everyone! Im prepared for it. He’s always on a towel/change pad. I air him out a lot!!! The diaper rash just won’t let up. Hopefully it clears up soon and I can get back to quick and easy diaper changes soon!See all replies (1)
  • member avatarEmm058 Posted 02-12-20Omg I feel your pain! My son pees during diaper changes ALL the time. I hold a washcloth over him but he seems to find a way to pee everywhere anyways. He also absolutely loves to poop in freshly changed diapers ... sigh!! I have to do a full load of baby laundry every other day. My boy has had a rash that comes and goes. Never too bad tho. I find a tiny bit of desitin and then a thicker coat of penaten works well.

I’ve always found that adding baking soda to the bath is a huge help. Thought it might be worth a shot in addition to the prescriptions. See all replies (1)
