When Are PSAT Scores Released?

In 2023, PSAT scores from the October test were released in two batches. The first batch was released on November 6, 2023, and the second batch followed on November 16, 2023. Your score release date depended on when you took the test and when your answers were submitted.

PSAT Dates

The College Board has released the PSAT dates for 2024. Below we have included all the PSAT dates you will need to know.

2024 PSAT Dates

There are three test days for high schools to administer the PSAT:

Test Type Test Date
Regular (Primary) Testing Starting from October 2nd to 31st, 2024
Saturday Testing Saturday, October 14th, 2024

PSAT testing season is typically in October; however, since high schools administer the PSAT individually (unlike the SAT with dedicated testing centers), your high school will decide which specific days to administer the PSAT

October 2024 test score release dates are anticipated to be 4-6 weeks after test day.

Please keep in mind, however, that, as the College Board explained, score availability “depends on the state from which students are accessing scores.”

How to Check PSAT Scores

You’re likely wondering how to check your PSAT scores. You should be contacted via email from the College Board to notify you when your scores are released.

If you don’t receive an email, you can log into your College Board account to check if your scores have been uploaded or to view your score report. Once registered, the College Board will explain how to see your PSAT scores once they are available.

If you don’t already have an account registered with the College Board, you can sign up at any time.

View your score on BigFuture School. If you provided your mobile number on test day, you'll receive a text message with access to the BigFuture School mobile app. As always, you may view your scores online if you have a personal College Board account.

Once you've received your scores, learn how you can use your scores for practice, scholarship opportunities, and more in the Resources section below.

We encourage you to sign up sooner rather than later since you’ll eventually use your account to view both your SAT and AP scores (if you take AP classes).

PSAT Scores FAQs

Do you still have questions about when PSAT scores come out or other PSAT-related queries? Then check out the following FAQs!

1. How Can I See My PSAT Scores Early?

Unfortunately, you can't see your PSAT score early. Despite some talk on Reddit posts about there being a glitch to see your scores earlier, this alleged glitch has been patched (if it ever worked). This is all to say that there are no early PSAT scores.

Your guidance counselors and the school can see your scores about a week before you: they can't tell you your scores, though!

Be patient and have confidence that, after all your studying, your score will reflect your hard work.

2. What PSAT Score Do You Need to Get a Scholarship?

Although you may have achieved a good PSAT score, you’ll still need to score in the 99th percentile to be eligible for the National Merit Scholarship. This means your total PSAT score would have to fall somewhere between 1360 and 1520; even then, you should strive for the upper limit for your best chance at becoming a semifinalist.

3. What Is the PSAT Selection Index Score?

The PSAT Selection Index score is calculated by doubling your individual scores in the Reading, Writing and Language, and Math sections and then adding them together.

The Selection Index is used to “designate groups of students to receive recognition in the National Merit Scholarship Program.”

4. What Is the Highest PSAT Selection Index Score?

The highest possible PSAT Selection Index score is 228.

5. How Accurate Is a Predicted SAT Score Based on My PSAT Score?

Your predicted SAT score is somewhat accurate if you perform at the same level as you did on the PSAT. However, it's best not to rely on predictions. No prediction based on your PSAT guarantees you a stellar SAT score: you'll need to work hard and study consistently!

6. How Long Does It Usually Take to Get PSAT Scores?

Usually, PSAT scores become available approximately 4-6 weeks after the October exam date.

Final Thoughts

Although it can feel like an eternity, you'll have your 2024 PSAT scores sometime between early- to mid-November. You can either create an account or log in to view your scores through the College Board when PSAT scores are released.

Once you have your scores, you can check out the National Merit Scholarship to see if you qualify for any of the four College Board Recognition Programs, and strategize to ace the SAT. We, at Inspira, are sure you’ll do great!

Good luck.
