When Does Obi-Wan Kenobi Take Place In The Star Wars Timeline?

The Sci-fi series ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ is set to premiere on Disney+ on 27 May and it is worth taking a look at where the series falls within the Star Wars timeline.

Ewan McGregor will finally be returning to the iconic role of Jedi Master Obi-Wan in the series ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ and for anyone wondering what the series is about and when it takes place, it is worth taking a look at all the information on hand regarding the latest addition to the Star Wars canon.

When and where does ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ take place?

Disney has confirmed that the series is set 10 years after ‘Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith’ and will predominantly take place in the desert planet of Tattooine, although there will be a glimpse of other planets in the galaxy. Obi-Wan has gone into exile on Tattooine so that he can keep an eye on a young Luke Skywalker and keep his identity a secret from the recently formed Galactic Empire.

Who will be involved in the series?

Along with Mcgregor, Hayden Christensen will be reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker, now going by the guis Darth Vader as builds the Empire’s influence on the galaxy alongside the Emperor. Another key threat that Obi-wan is set to combat are the Inquisitors, Dark side force users tasked with locating and eliminating any remaining Jedi.

What led to this point?

At the end of Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan and Master Yoda are set to head out into hiding. They also have to decide the fate of Anakin’s newborn children, Luke and Leia, after their mother, Padme Amidala died at childbirth. While Leia is sent to Naboo along in the care of Senator Bail Organa, Luke is left with Anakin’s step-brother, Owen, to be taken care of.

Obi-wan also decides to stay on Tattooine so that he may one day train the young boy when he comes of age.
