(valvetrain damage likely!) CR1S

you sure the vti civic's vtec isnt from 5600-8400... i dont think a standard vti's engagement is that low. but as far as the car your looking at vtec's from 6200-9500 doenst make sense as a standard ek9 limits at 8700 and if the car your looking at has a chip, it should also make the vtec come in earlier.... e.g. spoon ecu lowers vtec to 5500 and raises limiter to 9400, so just take a look at the ecu in the car and if it looks standard, open it up to see if there a chip in it. Hmm with those mods I don't see how the VTEC engages at 5500 (it may be 5600 just not been read correctly) and the limiter at 9500rpm, unless the clocks are out or the guy doesn't know what he's talking about. seanek3

Correct, with a 8400 RPM limit for the EK9 and 8200 RPM limit for the dc2 :naughty: muiris

Joined Jan 5, 2011 Messages 439 it is standard for ek9s to kick in at 6200, if it kicked in at 5500 then it would have an after market chip ie the ecu would be upgraded. 4 of my good mates have standard ek9s and the vtec kicks in 6200 and revs to 9500-1000rpm. muiris
