Hey guys, What RPM does vtec come in on the HRV? It's hard to tell with the CVT. I feel like it's just constant same power all the way through the rev range . It's not like other vtec engines where you notice when the vtec kicks in. I haven't really pushed my car to the limit yet to see its potential as it is still new. I have the 1.5 iVTEC petrol and it starts to kick in at around 3,500. Maximum torque is around 4,500rpm, with peak power at 6,600rpm. If I want to get a shift on; joining a motorway or Dual Carriage from a slip road, or want to overtake slower moving traffic, I know to drop down to 4th or even 3rd to get the revs way up. Unfortunately, I have the R18. No turbo. Looks alot like my car except for the engine and tranny. My budget was around £12k, which got me a 4 year old, 32k mid spec SE. If funds had allowed, I would have went for either a Ford Focus Active estate, or an AWD Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. To be fair, I'm rather pleased and fond of my HR-V after having to endure one of the worst ownership experiences with a totally unreliable Skoda Octavia Scout. #13 · Apr 9, 2022 128 bhp 1.5 iVTEC 6 speed manual. You may find this of interest; . 200kph = 124mph My previous Honda was a 1.6 SE Executive Civic which I chose over the Type R, as my weekend commute was 450 - 500 miles each way and I wanted to complete the journey on one tank without getting fleeced at motorway services. It was also a 3 door only and I used to carry a lot of kit each way. Especially when I used to go on leave from Gibraltar and driver through Spain and France. . Ah, the 'good old days' when a Type R cost £16k (2003). The current one retailed in excess of £33k. #15 · Apr 11, 2022 VTEC on the R18 operates "backwards" from other implementations. On most VTEC applications, the engine operates on "normal" cam lobes at low RPM then switches to "power" at high RPM. On the R18, the engine operates on "economy" cam lobes at low RPM then switches to "normal" at high RPM.
