When Heroes Fly may have only arrived on Netflix earlier in January, but season two has already been confirmed. Keshet International, which makes the Hebrew-language thriller, has ordered When Heroes Fly season two, though the series does not have a release date yet on Netflix. The When Heroes Fly season two release date is likely to be in 2019, however.

Will there be another series of When Heroes Fly?

When Heroes Fly season two has been confirmed by Keshet International, which aired the first season in Israel in May 2018.

The second series of the show was actually ordered before When Heroes Fly made its debut on Netflix.

According to the Times of Israel: “When Heroes Fly was Keshet’s most successful drama show in Israel since the country’s largest commercial television channel, Channel 2, split several years ago into two competing channels, Keshet and Reshet.”

To capitalise on this success, Keshet ordered a second series of When Heroes Fly shortly after it started airing in Israel in May 2018.

When will When Heroes Fly season 2 be released?

According to that Times of Israel article, which was released in October 2018, series two of When Heroes Fly “is due next year,” meaning we are likely to see another season by the end of 2019.

The first season of When Heroes Fly aired in May in Israel, followed by an international release on Netflix on Friday, January 11.

Netflix may choose to follow this pattern for season two or may rush-release season two after transmission in Israel if the season is a big hit on the streaming service.

This means we could get another series of When Heroes Fly on Netflix anytime from May 2019 to January 2020, though we are sure to know more about the release date in the coming weeks.

Who will be in the cast of When Heroes Fly season 2?

Series one of When Heroes Fly follows four veterans as they go on one last mission to find a figure from their past they had thought was dead.

These veterans, Aviv Danino (played by Tomer Capon), Dotan ‘Himler’ Friedman (Michael Aloni), Yakir ‘Benda’ Ben-David (Moshe Ashkenazi) and Dov ‘Dubi’ Ashkenazi (Nadav Netz), are all expected to be in the cast of When Heroes Fly season two.

However, it is impossible to say whether the woman they are searching for (Ninet Tayeb) will be back in season two without giving any spoilers for the current series of When Heroes Fly.

We will know more about which new characters will join When Heroes Fly season two in the coming weeks.

What is When Heroes Fly about?

The official synopsis for When Heroes Fly by Netflix reads: “Years after a bitter falling out, four Israeli military veterans reunite and travel to Colombia in search of a loved one they’d presumed to be dead”

When Heroes Fly is the latest Israeli thriller on Netflix after Hostages, which shares a creator with When Heroes Fly, and Fauda, which also stars Tomer Capon.

In a review for the show, Israeli paper Haaretz said: “It’s not the best Israeli show ever, for sure, but it is one of the most ambitious, being set over two continents and multiple time frames.”
