The time of its release has not been confirmed – and it’s likely that the Fortnite servers will be down for a while ahead of the launch.

In a post on their website last month developer Epic Games explained that the reason the new season is taking so long is that, starting with the v11.50 update, Fortnite will be moving over to use Unreal Engine’s Chaos physics engine.

‘At launch, the goal is to ensure that Fortnite still feels like Fortnite,’ the post reads.

‘Along the way there will be some bumps, so we’re starting tests with a small group of players. We’ll also closely monitor feedback and make improvements over time.’

What can we expect from Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2?

Epic hasn’t revealed too much yet, merely teasing the changes that might come in the new season.

Their website post reads: ‘Chapter 2 Season 2 will feature [redacted] with multiple [redacted]. We can’t brief you on all of next Season’s secrets just yet…’

However, they did confirm it will feature additional Overtime Challenges and a new-two week event will be happening soon.

An apparently leaked map for the next chapter has suggested that the nuclear power plant at Steamy Stacks has been blown up and that Slurpy Swamp and Misty Meadows have been destroyed, or possibly flooded.

Players from around the world have also spotted video adverts – with one in Brazil featuring the Fortnite logo with a gold handprint plastered over it, complete with words blocked out in gold and a phone number you can ring to hear a mysterious message.

Another phone number seen in the US leads to a message about an oil rig – sparking speculation that it could be a new location in the game.
