Most of the world follows the Gregorian calendar which is made up of 365 days but every four years we have an added day called a leap year.

To answer the previous question - no, 2022 isn’t a leap year.

The next leap year is 2024. Leap years take place every four years, so the following leap day will be February 29, 2028.

Why do we have them?

The Earth’s full orbit takes 365.2422 days – and that is where our 365-day calendar falls short.

If a leap year didn’t exist, we could eventually end up braving the winter during what we know as the summer months.

February 29 has also become a traditional day for women to propose to men.
