After witnessing Troy telling his friends that she and music don't mean anything to him, Gabriella expresses her sadness and heartbreak, believing their relationship was a lie.

The song also appears on the Disney+ spin-off series, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series performed Ricky Bowen who plays an acoustic version of the song while practing with Gina and Nini watching and admiring his performance.
