  • eelwanda2113 Posted 10-18-12I let them know I was expecting when I brought my older child in for an appointment.

I honestly never told them, I just put them down as my lo's dr and that was it.-never had a problem, or complaint. They came to the hospital to check on all the babies that are their patients and saw that they had another. Plus, while taking my other kids to the dr for check-ups, etc. their dr saw that I was pregnant, so I assumed that they would figure it out.

Not sure if it's the right way to go, but like I said, I never heard anything else otherwise.

    Good Luck!

I let mine know last time we were there, and she was so excited. She no longer makes rounds at the hospital but said that she will be coming up to see our LO. :) And you really should be looking for a pediatrician and sitting down to interview ones that you are interested in. I think it's common courtesy to let them know in advance that you are choosing them as your childs doctor. When we had our daughter, we asked all of our friends and family for recommendations and then met with a few before making a decision. Believe me, having a child who had a lot of medical issues when she was born, it was nice to know that we researched and felt we made the right decision for our peditrician. :)

  • kkeberlin Posted 10-19-12Here you must have the doctors office sign a slip and give it to your ob so that the right dr will see your child. They gave me the slip to have done at my first ob appt. I would ask ob/ped the process at your hospital.

Depends on your pediatrician I think. Most you don't have to notify at all. You tell your OB who your pediatrician is and when you go into labor and have the baby, the OB will call the on-call ped to come to the hospital to check the baby over.

When I pre-registered at the hospital, I had to fill in who the baby's pediatrician will be.

I called DD's pediatrician for this pregnancy to give them a head's up and they didn't even ask my name or due date. They said if I told the hospital whoe the pediatrician is, the hospital will call their office when the baby is born and whoever from their group is on call will come and visit the baby. Then I'll just set up baby's 1st well visit with their office once she's born.

  • hhottamale8 Posted 10-19-12I will be using my orher kids pediatrician but will notify him before babys arrival soon out of courtesy thats just me.
