THE BELOVED soda company Mountain Drew released an alcoholic line of drinks back in August 2021.

The boozy line was ultimately a hit among consumers and now many want to know where they can purchase it.

What is Hard Mountain Dew?

PepsiCo and Boston Beer teamed up in 2021 to create Hard Mountain Dew, an alcoholic-flavored malt beverage.

The drink has a 5% alcohol volume content, no added sugar, and only contains 100 calories per 12oz serving.

“For 80 years MTN DEW has challenged the status quo, bringing bold flavors and unmatched beverage innovation to millions of fans,” said Kirk Tanner, PepsiCo Beverages North America CEO.

“The Boston Beer Company partnership combines two recognized leaders in our respective industries to address the changing tastes of drinkers and we are thrilled at the opportunity to create HARD MTN DEW that maintains the bold, citrus flavor fans know and expect.”

Baja Blast is a popular tropical lime drink that was released by Mountain Dew exclusively at Taco Bell locations back in the early 2000s, and it has since become one of the brand’s most popular flavors.

Where can I buy Hard Mountain Dew?

In a press release shared in August 2021, PepsiCo and Boston Beer said they paired together because they “understand the importance of delivering new, breakthrough innovations to address the changing tastes of drinkers.”

Boston Beer said the boozy beverage will be “marketed to adults of legal age and merchandized consistently with other alcoholic beverages.”

Since launching, the drink has become available for purchase in 17 states.

At this time, it is not known when or if the company will expand its availability.

For now, those who reside in Iowa, Tennessee, Florida, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Minnesota, Virginia, Nevada, Ohio, Illinois, Arizona, Kentucky, Connecticut, Wyoming, Oregon, or Vermont can purchase the drink at a local retailer.

Consumers in those states can find the nearest vendor here.

What have people said about Hard Mountain Dew?

When Hard Mountain Dew was first announced, it received mixed reviews on social media.

“Mountain Dew Hard Seltzer trying to pretend it’s not Four Loko like,” one joked.

“Four Loko is how you made your kids. Hard Mountain Dew is how you lose custody,” another said.

One user also joked about the ingredients of the new drink, writing: “I better not catch y’all drinkin that hard Mountain Dew they cookin up. Y’all bout to grow gills fr.”

The mixed reviews ultimately didn’t bother the company, who took to X, formerly known as Twitter, in January 2022 to write, “Don’t worry. We didn’t forget,” alongside an image of the black and teal Baja Blast can.
