Horizon Forbidden West's title says it all. The sequel to 2017's Horizon Zero Dawn will take the game's protagonist, Aloy, to the far western edge of the United States. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic version of our current world, where animalistic robots have caused mass devastation. Because of this, players shouldn't expect to see anything instantly recognizable, but rather a run down and overgrown version of the current West Coast.

Where did Horizon Zero Dawn take place?

Horizon Zero Dawn took place in the areas of Utah and Colorado in the United States. This gave the game great depth and environmental variety, which players can expect from Horizon Forbidden West, as well.

Horizon Zero Dawn was full of wooded areas, desert landscapes, and tall-reaching mountains for players to explore and traverse. With such a wide variety of scenery, the world of Horizon Zero Dawn felt like a world that was lived in and functioning. This is definitely something that can be expected in Horizon Forbidden West based on the game's trailers and teasers shown before release.
