Dana Perino will co-moderate the second Republican primary debate on September 27, 2023.

She will be joined by Fox Business Network host Stuart Varney and Univision anchor Ilia Calderón.

Previously, Perino was missing from the Fox News talk show, The Five, on April 4.

Fans fear for Fox News anchor after absence from America’s Newsroom

Fans were quick to express their frustration with the “queen of Fox” not being on TV, however, Perino took to Instagram to reassure viewers that she would be returning to screens on April 5, 2022.

The 50-year-old posted a picture of a monkey and captioned it: “We met this baby 🦍 yesterday in 🇷🇼- flying back now. See you tomorrow on @thefivefnc and @americasnewsroom.”

While it is unclear if Perino’s trip to Rwanda was for business or pleasure as of yet, users swarmed the comments of her post, writing: “Finally!!!!! Welcome home you’ve been very missed!”

Another said: “I can’t watch the Five unless Dana Perino is on. The absolute anchor of the show.”

What happened to Dana Perino’s dog Jasper?

Perino announced in September 2021 that her beloved dog, Jasper, had passed away.

“It is with broken hearts that Peter and I have to let you know that Jasper, America’s Dog, died today,” she wrote about herself and her husband.

“A fast-spreading cancer caused him to leave us sooner than we’d ever hoped, she said.

In her role at Fox News, she explained that viewers got to know her dog very well.

“Jasper, America’s dog, died at 12:40 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2021. He was nine years old,” she shared in an opinion piece on the outlet’s website.

“Jasper will never be on ‘The Five’ or ‘America’s Newsroom’ again – he was such a great sport when we’d have him on set,” she wrote.

“He always wore a tie for television. He had a good sense of the cameras, having been over-photographed his entire life.”

“Jasper was first on ‘The Five’ in June 2012, a tiny puppy that I could easily hold in my arms,” she revealed, before adding later in the tribute piece, “At Fox News, everyone knew of Jasper – and even though he didn’t come to work with me, his presence was felt there as well.”

Jasper was a brown Vizsla.

The American Kennel Club notes that the breed is known for forming “tight bonds” with their owners and “eager and graceful trotters of great stamina.”

Since Jasper’s passing, Perino adopted a new dog named Percy, who she often shares photos of on her Instagram.

In September 2023, she posted a photo of the pup, captioned: “Happy birthday, Percy! Two years old today.”
